About our art and craft club

What makes this club different?

Pattern and Print Club sessions are about spending quality time with your young ones while being creative, getting inspired and making unique pieces of art to take home.Sessions are planned so that you get to make and your child/children get to make too.Come and spend time with your children and get to get to know other members of the local community too.Play and create, with all the materials provided for you. Be inspired by your children and others at the clubJoin me and try something new, or fine tune your skills of something you've done before. The club is a designed so that you can have screen free time, space to create at your own pace and what ever you fancy with the materials.Use what you've made to give to others, display on your walls or turn it into something else at home.

What do you do in the sessions?

Previous sessions have included,
- Gel plate printing - from printing using paper shapes, natural materials and stencils
- Using coloured sand to create patterns
- Traditional marbling onto ceramic baubles
- Collage with printed papers and recycled materials
- Screen printing with paper stencils
I do repeat sessions to enable you and your children to revisit so that you can build/practice/explore on previous ideas and skills. So often we only get the chance to do things once and it's lovely to have the opportunity to give something another go and persevere with it.

who runs the club?

Hi. I'm Lucie.I was born and raised in South East London, and have been living in Grove Park for 17 years, with my husband and 2 young children.I have a degree from London Metropolitan University in Silversmithing, Jewellery and Allied Crafts and specialised in photo etching onto copper and silver. For the past 17 years I have worked as Freelance Arts and Craft Tutor at the Horniman Museum and Gardens, and also ran sessions at Westminster Abbey and The Museum of London. One of the things I love about Grove Park is the sense of community, so when I heard there were plans to close Grove Park Library, I was able to put my printing skills to use for the campaign to save it, making 3 screen printed banners that we put on the library to raise awareness. With the new staff team wanting to make it a community hub as well as a library, this provided a great opportunity to bring people together to make and create and so the Pattern and Print Club was started.I love all things colourful, patterned and printed and I can not wait to explore all the ideas I have with you, and see what you make at the Club.
